The role of the e-learning developer is to design and develop online e-learning training courses using avariety of tools including Captivate eLearning Suite.
Job description. Role purpose:
- To design and develop online e-learning training courses using avariety of tools including Captivate eLearning Suite.
- Work as part of Learning & Development team with a strong content development skill set.
Key accountabilities:
- Use an array of rapid development tools and software to develop and customise online learning solutions to eLearning industry SCORM / AICC standards, in particular Adobe Captivate;
- Liaise with instructional designers and client subject matter experts to assimilate and prototype design information, and to storyboard online learning solutions that meet learning outcomes for performance from high level design specifications ;
- Generate learner driven interactive content for online learning packages and other learning technologies;
- Develop and integrate online educational resources into online learning solutions using educational Project Management delivery models;
- Working as part of the Learning & Development team brainstorming ideas and techniques for implementation of engaging online learning packages as part of performance driven blended learning services delivery solutions;
- Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders on the use of training media and training delivery methods;
Process accountabilities:
This role may require you to be either a Process Owner or a Process Manager. The definitions below provide a high level summary of accountabilities in each case.
Process Owner is accountable for:
- the overall end-to-end performance of your process(es)
- implementing and maintaining process excellence standards (ITIL where appropriate)
- governing changes and sponsoring improvements to your process(es)
- complying with Colt’s data quality principles
Process Manager is accountable for:
- compliance with the current process design and specifications, process excellence and data quality principles (ITIL where appropriate)
- identifying and implementing agreed changes and improvements to the process
- ensuring the right number of skilled staff are available to operate the process to meet the process targets
Requirements. Ideal experience:
- Experience of designing and developing online learning content and courseware for SCORM compliant Learning Management Systems, using rapid content development tools
- Sound working knowledge of web development tools, rapid eLearning development tools / Captivate, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and XML / HTML skills
- Knowledge or experience of Captivate eLearning Suite, other rapid online content development tools, or other internet/intranet development and content management tools
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite and MS SharePoint to advanced level.
- Experience of integrating courseware into learning management systems
- Appreciation of instructional design, teaching methods and theories
- Strong multimedia graphic design skills
- Strong knowledge of video, audio and image editing tools
- Strong communication, literacy/numeracy and written skills.
- A working knowledge of Kallidus or similar LMS (Learning Management System)
- Must be creative and able to respond to challenges, often working within tight timescales
